La
Señoritas Beer
Garden
Located adjacent to the Bell Tower Park at 22nd & Ballard Avenue No summer festival would be complete without a Beer Garden. And at SeafoodFest, ours features Maritime Pacific, Ballard’s very own brew. The La Señoritas Drill Team organization does a great job serving it up in this perfect place for resting and relaxing in the sun. Order a round and enjoy the great music on the MainStage.

Eating Contest
Saturday, July 28 at 1:20 pm on the CommunityStage in Bergen Place Park Oh yes, that one time a year when a slew of iron bellied contestants line up for this time honored SeafoodFest tradition, and they do it without the benefit of aquavit. This is bravery that speaks to a strong Scandinavian constitution. On the other hand, the fastest slurper wins a handful of cash. Either way, this is an event for only the bravest and toughest of Vikings!
Seventh
Annual Slotky Memorial
Couture Coverall Contest
Sunday, July 29 at 2 pm on the CommunityStage in Bergen Place Park And how is it this little ditty has maintained its popularity after seven years? Who knows, but here’s the premise. Ballard’s traditional costume is really a pair of old coveralls, not a Scandinavian folk costume, as many might imagine. So we honor those old coveralls.
Each contestant grabs a pair—some start months in advance—they alter them, decorate them or do whatever to them. The only thing they can’t do is get naked, since this is a family event afterall. On SeafoodFest Sunday, all contestants gather round the stage, don their creations and do a “fashion” show complete with runway copy and optional music. They are judged on, among other things, originality, creativity and the age old question, “Is it Ballard?” The competition is fierce and brings contestants back year after year. What do they win? A gleaming trophy, some way cool prizes and a whole lot of satisfaction.
Saturday, July 28 at 2 pm on the CommunityStage in Bergen Place Park No cash in this contest, but the competition is equally as fierce. In this one, the prize is a bike donated by Ballard’s own Bike Sport. Sorry,
grownups, this one’s
only for the kids. But
the “oldsters” can
stop by Ballard Market’s
produce stall alongside
the park and take
your pick of the
season’s juiciest
melons.
